According to the National Institutes of Health, of the 35 million Americans age 65 and older over 2 million suffer from full blown depression. And another 5 million suffer from less severe forms of the illness.

If your caring for an elder that may be suffering from Depression this episode will help you identify some of the symptoms as well as solutions for treatment.

As a caregiver there are many ways of approaching your elder in hopes of them being more receptive to treatment. Many times it’s simply listening to the elder and allowing them to expressive their feelings in the form of talk therapy. Another approach to treatment may be the language you use to connect with them. Whatever the symptoms are, understand their there is help and hope for them.
