Did you know that in Florida alone an estimated 785,000 people aged 65 and older have an emotional or mental health problem that needs professional attention? Depressed individuals use 3 times as much health care, their medical costs are twice as high and their death rate after a heart attack is 3 times higher than persons not suffering from depression. And that suicide rate for older persons is 50 percent higher than all other age groups.

In this second part of our series on Senior Depression our guests Hannach Hackworth with Urban Jacksonville Mental Wellness and Cornelia Rappoport of Apex Home Healthcare provide solutions for treatment of depression. They also include several success stories of patients that have recovered and found hope in various and alternative ways.
