Many people think of abuse as physical abuse. But abuse takes on many different forms like psychological and neglect. One area of neglect is not just the act but also the omission of care. One of largest areas of neglect is self neglect. When a senior fails to accept care or is unable to care for themselves they can become a victim of self neglect.

The last area of neglect is exploitation. This is when someone’s financial assets are threatened. Identity theft or home repair fraud or the misuse of a senior’s financial assets by a family member can also be defined as exploitation.

In this show Debra Vasquez with ElderSource defines what abuse for seniors is; who the abusers are; and solutions to preventing elder abuse.
